Are you trying to climb the corporate ladder with excess weight? As much as we all hate to admit it, climbing a career ladder with excess weight is not much different than climbing a physical ladder with excess weight. Either way, your progress is impeded.

What does being overweight tell your bosses? What does it tell your customers? What would being at your ideal weight do for your productivity and your energy levels, not to mention your health?

Are you an overweight single who feels that your weight is an obstacle to finding the love of your life? Again, as much as we hate to admit it, people at their ideal weight are considered more attractive, probably because they appear to be more healthy.

What does being overweight tell a potential ideal mate? Have you used your weight to keep people at a distance? What would being at your ideal weight do for your personal life?

Truth Time - CALCULATE YOUR BMI

Before reading any further, please take a minute to calculate your body mass index. Know one will know but you. You will need to know how tall you are in inches and how much you weigh. The calculation is as follows:

Your weight, divided by your height in inches, divided by your height in inches again, times 703

W / H / H X 703 = BMI

Here is an example assuming you weigh 200 lbs and are 5'9" tall:

200/69/69 X 703 = 29.53

According to the Center for Disease Control, you are overweight and at risk for heart disease, kidney disease, cancer, dementia and a host of other inflammatory diseases.

The Center for Disease Control uses the following ranges for BMI:

18.5 - 24.9 = Ideal

25 - 29.9 = Overweight

30 or over = Obese

Assuming that you are overweight or obese, and you have tried dieting, diet pills, hypnosis or a host of other strategies to achieve your ideal weight with dismal or non-permanent results, are you now ready to give up looking externally for the answer to your weight issue?

Are you ready to give up looking for that ONE magic pill, that ONE easy diet, that ONE motivating statement that will help you achieve your IDEAL weight?

What if I told you that the magic pill that you are looking for, you have right now?

What if I told you that the one easy diet that you are looking for, you have it at your fingertips?

What if I told you that the only obstacle to your ideal weight is the programming in your brain, your core beliefs about food?

What if I told you that I can help you reprogram your brain to rid yourself of those obstacles and frustrations that have prevented you from achieving your ideal weight? And What If all you needed to do was let go of your excuses and limiting beliefs?

  • Could you do that?

  • Would you do that?

  • When?

Achieving your ideal weight is NOT about will power. It's about imagination!

Emile Coue’, the French psychologist, said that imagination is greater than willpower!

This means you can try hard to achieve a certain result, but the images you hold in your mind will ultimately win out.  Often, a person will lose a certain number of pounds by sheer willpower, and will succeed for awhile, only to gain the weight back.  This may be the result of the subconscious mind: it has registered your body at a certain weight, which is called a set point.

No matter how hard you try, your weight will return again to the set point.  One of the ways to change the set point is to visualize yourself at your ideal weight.  The nervous system will eventually accept the new image, establishing a new set point, which will assist you in achieving your desired result.

Here is a story that speaks to the heart of core beliefs and how they hold us prisoner.

A Prisoner of a Childhood Belief

A baby elephant caught in the wild is taught to "stay" in place by wrapping a chain around its hind leg and attaching that chain to a stake that has been driven up to eight feet into the ground. No matter how hard it tries, it cannot get loose. It will cry out for its mother, but she is not there to rescue it, and the baby elephant soon gives up. As it grows up, it no longer tries to escape, as it simply believes that it cannot. The stake no longer needs to be driven eight feet into the ground, as it has become more symbolic than real. The stake is perhaps three feet into the ground, just deep enough to require more than minimal effort to pull it up. Now fully grown, the elephant could very easily pull that stake up, but it no longer tries. Its childhood programming is firmly established.

Much of our childhood programming is the same as that baby elephant, and it's time for an upgrade!

As your Ideal Weight Coach, I will help you explore your old programming and show you how to upgrade that programming to better suit you as an adult. We will not focus on weight loss; we will focus on achieving your ideal weight. There is a BIG difference!

How is there a difference? Think about this: assume you are driving to California. Would you focus on the road in front of you, or would you look in your rear view mirror while you are driving?

Focusing on how much weight you need to lose is like focusing on the rearview mirror, and it's not only depressing, but it's difficult for the brain, because the amount of weight you need to lose is a variable; that is, it is subject to change. Your ideal weight does NOT change. That's the goal! That's California!

As you think about your future and how you would like to live it, I will leave you with this story.

A Chance to Start Over

It is now the year 2020, a little more than a decade from now, and you are in the hospital suffering from heart disease, diabetes, and a host of other diseases associated with an unhealthy weight and life style. You are not expected to live much longer. The night nurse just checked your blood pressure and left, leaving you all alone. As you cry yourself to sleep, another nurse enters your room. You don't recognize him. He moves toward your bed and holds out his hand. It has a strange looking object in it. He asks you to take it and hold it tightly in your hand. He explains that with this object, you may have one wish, and only one wish. You wipe your tears away, and think very hard. Moments later, you make your one wish. You want to live your life over again! You hand the object back to the nurse and he leaves the room. You fall deep asleep, but when you wake up, you are back to today, safe and in your own home. How will you live your life this time? The choice is entirely yours to make.
